🚢 Cargo ship freed from ice on Lake Erie
The 202-meter Canadian ship Manitoulin became stuck in ice on Lake Erie on January 22 while returning to Canada after delivering wheat to Buffalo, USA. There were 17 crew members on board, who were unharmed.
🛟U.S. Coast Guard ships and a helicopter, as well as a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker, were sent to the rescue. The combined efforts freed the ship on Saturday after escorting it through 32 kilometers of ice fields.
