On June 26, Viking Cruises officially took delivery of the new cruise ship Viking Vesta at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy. This is the second vessel in a series of small cruise ships being built by Fincantieri for the company.
Viking Vesta is classified as a small cruise ship, with a length of 240 meters, a beam of 33 meters, and a gross tonnage of approximately 54,300 tons. Sailing under the Norwegian flag, the vessel features 499 cabins and can accommodate up to 998 guests.
Alongside expanding its fleet, Viking Cruises is investing in sustainable technologies. In collaboration with Fincantieri, the company is constructing Viking Libra—the world’s first cruise ship to operate using hydrogen stored onboard. This will enable the vessel to generate power and sail without producing harmful emissions. Delivery is expected by the end of 2026.
Following Viking Libra, a sister ship—Viking Astrea—equipped with the same hydrogen-based technology, is also under construction at the same shipyard, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
