Customs and Coast Guard officials have found 2 tons of cocaine on a foreign ship docked at Gangneung Port on the east coast of South Korea, the largest drug haul in the country's history
⚠️ The operation was carried out after receiving a tip-off from the US FBI. The Norwegian-flagged ship had arrived from Mexico after passing through Ecuador, Panama and China
🔍 During the inspection, law enforcement officers found 57 boxes of cocaine. The market value of the seized cargo is estimated at nearly $680 million (about 1 trillion won)
An investigation into the crew and possible ties to an international drug cartel is currently underway, involving the FBI and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (HSI).
