Proteus Marine Renewables has successfully installed and connected an AR1100 tidal turbine in Japan, marking the first megawatt-scale tidal energy project in the country

▪️ Capacity: 1.1 MW of renewable energy to decarbonize the region
▪️ Partner: Kyuden Mirai Energy (KME
🔹 Technology development: AR500 to AR1100
▪️ In 2021, Proteus conducted a pilot project with an AR500 (500 kW) turbine, showing 97% availability
▪️ In 2022, the company signed a contract with KME to upgrade the system to 1.1 MW
▪️ Improvements include advanced pitch control systems and rotation of turbines
The installation was carried out with the involvement of Japanese vessels and specialists, under the supervision of Proteus Offshore Services
