today at 10:00 14

On November 10, a collision occurred off the Southern Islands of Singapore between the Singapore-flagged ferry Horizon 9 and the Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker La Digue.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), all 165 passengers and seven crew members on board the ferry were safe and unharmed, and regional shipping traffic remained unaffected.

The incident happened at around 5:00 p.m. local time, when the 39-meter ferry Horizon 9 was en route to HarbourFront Centre. The vessel collided with the oil tanker, prompting an immediate response from MPA, which dispatched a support vessel to assist.

No injuries were reported on either vessel. The La Digue tanker sustained no damage, while the Horizon 9 suffered minor bow damage above the waterline but remained seaworthy.

The MPA vessel escorted Horizon 9 to HarbourFront Centre, where all passengers and crew safely disembarked shortly after the incident.

Authorities confirmed that the collision was an isolated case and did not disrupt port operations or marine traffic. The MPA has launched an official investigation into the cause of the accident.

The La Digue is a chemical and oil tanker built in 2011, measuring 183.21 meters in length and 32.22 meters in breadth. According to MarineTraffic data, the vessel is currently berthed in the Port of Singapore.
