On September 24, in the Belgian port of Zeebrugge, the car carrier Jisu Fortune, sailing under the Liberian flag, collided with the Pierre Vandamme lock. No injuries were reported.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred during the vessel’s departure, when it was caught by a strong gust of wind. Both the lock and the vessel sustained damage. For several hours, traffic was paralyzed: the shipping channel was blocked, and access to and from the harbor was temporarily restricted.
Authorities in Zeebrugge have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. At present, Jisu Fortuneremains moored in the port for inspection and damage assessment.
Background: Jisu Fortune is a Chinese-built car carrier, delivered in 2025 and owned by Geely (Volvo, Polestar). The vessel is 199.85 meters long and 38.03 meters wide.
