On the morning of 27 December, the 47-meter sailing vessel Sharandy Of The Seas sank in Serangan Harbor (Bali) in the Balinese Sea.
The vessel was anchored and undergoing repairs when a strong storm squall hit the area. With winds reaching around 45 km/h, the sailing vessel reportedly lost stability, developed a heavy port list, then capsized and subsequently sank. The 13 crew members were unable to stabilize the vessel before it overturned.
All 13 crew were forced to abandon ship and jump into the water. They were later rescued by local residents using a small boat and brought safely ashore at Serangan Beach. No injuries were reported.
According to reports, the vessel sank at 8°43’13.0″S 115°14’27.0″E. No information has been released on whether any pollutants were spilled.
