UK-based North Star has completed the acquisition of four modern Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) from Norwegian offshore wind operator Edda Wind.
Following the transaction, North Star’s offshore wind fleet has grown to 14 vessels, making it one of the largest SOV fleets in Europe. The company also stated that it has become the world’s largest integrated maritime infrastructure service provider by fleet size and contracted charter portfolio.
The acquisition includes four high-performance SOVs — Goelo Enabler, Boreas Enabler, Nordri Enabler, and Sudri Enabler — together with all associated charter agreements. All four vessels are currently operating under offshore wind contracts across the European market.
According to North Star, the deal provides immediate access to additional high-capacity assets while improving operational flexibility and strengthening the company’s ability to support clients in key offshore energy regions.
Around 160 offshore personnel connected to the vessels will also join North Star’s operations, continuing to support the fleet alongside the company’s existing operational teams.
North Star’s expansion into the offshore wind sector has been backed by Partners Group, which acquired the company in 2022 and has since supported the growth of its offshore renewable energy operations.
In addition to its growing SOV fleet, North Star also operates Europe’s largest fleet of Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels (ERRV). The company currently manages 37 ERRVs providing critical support services to the offshore energy industry under strict safety regulations.
