🌍 QatarEnergy to be the leader in oil and gas exploration in 2025, with Africa’s Orange Basin in focus
🔎 High-impact exploration activity in 2025 will remain at 2024 levels, with QatarEnergy set to be the most active company in the industry.
📌 Expected drilling activity:
✅ 65-75 exploration wells (vs. 69 in 2024)
✅ South America leading in drilling activity (17 wells)
✅ Africa – 14 wells, including 7-10 in the Orange Basin
🔥 The Orange Basin is a new exploration hub
The Orange Basin is located off the coast of Namibia and South Africa and has emerged as one of the most promising oil and gas regions in recent years. In 2022, TotalEnergies and Shell made major discoveries there – the Venus and Graff fields, confirming the presence of high-quality light oil reserves.
Why is this important?
- Geological similarities with oil-bearing regions of Brazil and Guiana
- High potential for commercial development
- Attracting major players, including QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies and Shell
🔍 New wells will help determine the final volume of reserves and prospects for further development of the region.
