Ireland-based XOCEAN has secured a series of five-year contracts to perform low-carbon bathymetric surveys across six offshore wind farms in the Netherlands—described as one of the country’s largest multi-site survey awards to date.
The agreements were arranged by Eneco on behalf of the projects Borssele 3&4 (Blauwwind), Borssele 5 (Two Towers), Eneco Luchterduinen, Hollandse Kust Noord (CrossWind), Hollandse Kust West VI (Ecowende) and Prinses Amaliawindpark (Eneco). Together, the sites comprise 303 turbines, supplying electricity to millions of homes.
Under the long-term program, XOCEAN will deliver detailed bathymetric surveys focusing on pile foundations, inter-array cables and export cable routes. The data will support ongoing maintenance planning aimed at ensuring reliable operation and extending asset life.
XOCEAN will deploy its fleet of remotely operated uncrewed surface vessels (USVs), increasingly used for lower-carbon hydrographic work. The company says USVs enable subsea data collection while cutting fuel consumption, reducing impact on the marine environment and lowering vessel time at sea compared with traditional crewed survey platforms.
XOCEAN CEO James Ives said the contracts highlight the company’s growing role in offshore wind and will combine high-quality seabed data with reduced operational emissions and improved sustainability of offshore operations.
XOCEAN reports it has completed more than 1,600 missions worldwide and continues to expand its offshore wind footprint across Europe, the Asia-Pacific region and North America.
