he international shipbuilding group Fincantieri and the cruise company TUI Cruises (a joint venture of TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises) have signed a contract for the construction of two new cruise ships based on the InTUItionseries design, which includes Mein Schiff Relax and Mein Schiff Flow.
Both vessels will be built for the Marella Cruises brand and delivered to the owner in 2031 and 2032. The signing of the contract follows the letter of intent agreed in March 2025.
At that time, the estimated cost of construction was set at €2 billion. It is now noted that the final price slightly exceeds the figure mentioned in the March memorandum but remains acceptable for the customer.
The new cruise ships will be equipped with dual-fuel engines running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and low-sulfur marine diesel. Each vessel will have a gross tonnage of around 160,000, which is larger than initially planned in the project.
