Belgian offshore specialist DEME has taken delivery of its second purpose-built wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV), Norse Energi, the company announced. The handover took place on 15 January at the CIMC Raffles Shipyard.
Norse Energi is a sister ship to Norse Wind and was designed by GustoMSC and built by CIMC Raffles. DEME says the vessel is engineered to install the next generation of large-scale offshore wind turbines, including units with rotor diameters exceeding 300 metres, and to handle XXL monopiles up to 3,000 tonnes in water depths up to 70 metres.
DEME added that the newbuild was delivered on schedule with a strong quality and safety record. Both Norse Energi and Norse Wind are already contracted for offshore wind projects in Europe and are expected to begin operations in the first half of 2026.
