My name is Nikolai Laptev, and I am a Second Engineer. I have broad expertise and experience working on vessels of multiple classes.
My experience includes working with main engines such as MAN B&W, Mitsubishi, Hanshin, Wartsila, and MAK, as well as auxiliary engines from MAN B&W, Volvo-Penta, Yanmar, Daihatsu, MAK, Pielstick, and Scania.
I am experienced with engines operating on both HFO and DO. Throughout my career, I have recognized the importance of continuous learning, which led me to complete a university degree and obtain an ETO certificate. My deep fascination with engineering has also inspired me to pursue a scientific career, and I am currently working towards a PhD in the field.
Regarding medical records, I received a locally approved Covid-19 vaccination in Russia between late 2019 and 2022. I am proficient in the full range of maintenance and repair tasks for ship equipment and possess solid skills in turning and welding.
The only continent I have not yet visited is Australia. I am actively seeking a new position aboard a vessel where I can further enhance my skills and knowledge. My expected salary range is from $7,100 upwards.

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to work on a Ro-Pax vessel. That was my most successful contract, thanks to the excellent condition of the equipment and the high professionalism of the crew. Since then, I have developed a strong preference for passenger vessels.
However, the current geopolitical situation, specifically the conflict involving my country of residence, has created significant professional limitations for seafarers in the international job market.
